<p>This study provides a brief overview of the evolution of the BRRD during its first ten years of operation. It is structured into the following six sections. Section 1 discusses its general provisions, as well as the rules applying in particular in the Banking Union under the SRMR. Section 2 sets out the objective, the field of application and the system of rules of the BRRD, with specific emphasis on certain aspects relating to the conditions for resolution. The relationship between the BRRD and the SRMR is discussed in Section 3. Section 4 systematically presents the amendments made to the BRRD by the so-called ‘BRRD II’ and other legislative acts up to August 2024, and Section 5 addresses the pending proposed amendment of the ‘CMDI framework’. Section 6 concludes.</p>
