<p>This study aimed to develop and validate the Revised Calculus Concept Inventory (RCCI) as a reliable tool for assessing students’ conceptual understanding of calculus. By selectively merging and refining items from the Calculus Concept Inventory and the Calculus I Concept Inventory, a robust instrument was created for both pre- and post-assessment. The development process involved input from high school teachers, college instructors, and expert panels, culminating in a pilot-tested version with 23 items. Psychometric analyses identified four underperforming items, which were subsequently removed, resulting in a final inventory of 19 questions. Both classical test theory and modern test theory methodologies confirmed the RCCI’s validity and reliability in measuring conceptual understanding of calculus across diverse student populations. The RCCI holds significant promise for advancing calculus education, informing curriculum design, and supporting equitable assessments that foster student retention and success in STEM fields.</p>
