Unlocking Rituals trough Compulsive Box Intervention (CBI): An Exploration of a Possible way to Manage Obsessive Rituals in Autism
摘要
The Compulsive Box Intervention (CBI) offers a behavioral strategy to reduce compulsive rituals in individuals with co-occurring Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Obsessive–Compulsive Disorder (OCD). By incorporating abolishing operations through structured “permitted” and “unpermitted” rituals, CBI aims to reduce compulsive urges. Applied to a 17 year-old student with ASD and intellectual disability, the intervention resulted in reduced ritual frequency and increased adaptive engagement. CBI shows promise as a self-management tool to improve quality of life in autism.
