摘要

In this paper, the author offers a theoretical contemplation on a trauma-informed expressive arts therapy concept, Restorative Decentering, shaped by her 3 year practice and research, facilitating expressive arts therapy group sessions on a long-term forensic psychiatric ward. Restorative Decentering is formed upon the philosophy of the Zen Buddhist approach to recovery, which focuses on the renewed experience of here and now. Through actively restoring the balancing act of the sympathetic nervous system for vitality and the parasympathetic nervous system for safety, a decentering experience is theorized to anchor and amplify every living moment of reception and creation. When long-term legal goals set by the government are inaccessible, restoring every present moment of living becomes an urgent response to justice and recovery.
