Wear Performance and Its Examination of Electro-discharge Alloyed WS2/Cu Composite Coating on AA7075 Aluminium Alloy

The mechanical and physical properties of aluminum alloys make them useful in many automotive applications, notably for pistons used in diesel and gasoline engines, which undergo hot reciprocation. Wear and corrosion may affect its performance. The wear resistance of the component can be improved through surface modification, which is necessary to resolve this issue. Therefore, the purpose of this investigation is to analyze the tribological performance of the electro-discharge alloying (EDA) AA7075 alloy using WS2/Cu. In this investigation, wear test were conducted according to Taguchi L9 orthogonal array with three wear parameters using a pin-on-disc machine and the responses were recorded. From the graph it was inferred that wear rate spikes linearly when increase in normal load, sliding speed and conversely wear rate increases slowly when the sliding time roses. While CoF raises, when normal load and sliding speed both raises, however CoF decreases while increase in sliding speed.
