Sustainable Synthesis of Silver Nanoparticles Derived from Amaranthus spinosus Leaves Extract for the Advanced Anticorrosion and Antibacterial Applications

After years of consistent work in the bottom-up technique and biological Ag nanoparticle production, the current work produced silver nanoparticles by green synthesis from the extract of Amaranthus spinosus (AS) leaves extracted at room temperature with a pH range between 10 and 12. The shape and phase purity of the produced AgNPs were thoroughly examined using a variety of characterization techniques. One of the main flavonoid components, quercetin, enhances the conversion of Ag+ to Ag0, per the phytochemical activities of AS leaf extract. The antibacterial activity of AgNPs was also evaluated against E. coli and S. aureus. The results demonstrate the potent antibacterial properties of AgNPs against the E. coli bacteria.
