Tribo-Corrosion of Polymers and Polymer Composites in Harsh Environment

Tribo-corrosion, the interaction of mechanical wear and environmental/chemical degradation, is a critical factor in determining the lifespan and performance of materials in a variety of industries. This paper examines the behavior of polymers and their composites in terms of tribo-corrosion, focusing on how wear and corrosion interact and intensify one another. The impact of various factors including material composition, operating conditions, and environmental influences on the resistance to wear and corrosion is discussed, with a particular emphasis on the influence of filler materials. The key properties of polymers and polymer composites with their wear mechanisms and testing are also discussed within the article.
