Pressure Distribution Analysis of Leaded Tin Bronze Hydrodynamic Journal Bearing under Different Lubrication Conditions
摘要
The main objective of this investigation is to analyze the pressure distribution on hydrodynamic journal bearings using various lubricants like SAE20W-40, rapeseed oil, and soybean oil under different loading conditions and operational variables. The pressure distribution on the bearing was tested under speed ranges of 750 rpm, 1000 rpm, and 1500 rpm, load conditions, 300 N, 500 N, and 2000 N. The geometrical model was created using the Creo parametric 8.0.4.0 CAD tool, and the CAD model was analyzed using the comsol-ALP3T algorithm to plot pressure distribution. The result showed that soybean and rapeseed oil have low variation (10%) for working parameters of 750 rpm, 1000 rpm, 1500 rpm, and 300 N, 500 N, and 2000 N load. With a load of 2000N and speed of 750 rpm, SAE20W-40 oil experiences greater pressure variation than rapeseed oil, while soybean oil experiences the least pressure variation. In these conditions, soybean oil forms a very thin layer of thick fluid between the surfaces, whereas SAE20W-40 and rapeseed oil form thicker layers, displaying the effects of the operation’s low fluid film thickness between the surfaces. To conclude, we suggest using of bio lubricants for automotive applications for bearings manufactured using leaded tin bronze materials.
