<p>Although the scientific community rewards novelty, replication of studies in novel contexts ensures that findings can be generalized or identifies circumstances under which they differ. Two studies examining the acceptance and commitment therapy/training (ACT) component of values (Flynn &amp; Hebert,&#xa0;<i>Journal of Contextual Behavioral Science, 23</i>, 48–52.&#xa0;<CitationRef CitationID="CR7">2022</CitationRef>; Hebert et al.,&#xa0;<i>Journal of Contextual Behavioral Science, 20</i>, 144–154.<CitationRef CitationID="CR10">2021</CitationRef>) found that a brief intervention increased approach in a contamination anxiety behavioral approach task (BAT). The current study attempted to examine whether the impact of the intervention generalizes when using a spider-related BAT. Undergraduates (<i>n</i> = 174) were randomly assigned to a values plus tickets, tickets only, or control condition. All completed online questionnaires and a baseline BAT, followed by a task associated with their condition, and a second BAT. No differences in approach behaviors were found between conditions following interventions. These findings are inconsistent with prior research and suggest that aspects of the preparation may be important to consider in the impact of values on responding.</p>
