Importance of Leadership in the Trauma Bay

In this work, we review recent literature published on the importance of leadership in the trauma bay and more specifically aim to evaluate: leadership styles, leadership assessment tools, professionalism, the concepts of command and control and systems-based practice, and leadership education.
Recent findingsThe formal evaluation of leadership using validated tools in simulation or trauma video review formats to improve individual skill and team function are on the rise. These studies express commonalities and demonstrate that leadership can be improved with thoughtful education and feedback.
