<p>This study evaluates the effectiveness of a jet plasma system for treating real landfill leachate, with particular focus on the degradation of persistent organic and inorganic pollutants. Leachate samples from an active landfill were treated under atmospheric pressure plasma conditions. Post-treatment analyses using high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), and inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry (ICP-OES) were carried out to assess organic decomposition and metal removal. The plasma process achieved over 85% reduction in the leachate’s organic content, including notable degradation of aromatic and nitrogen bearing compounds. Inorganic analysis confirmed more than 99% removal of arsenic and significant decreases in other heavy metals. These results were obtained without additional reagents or complex reactor setups, suggesting low operational cost and energy demand compared with conventional methods. Jet plasma system offers a practical, energy efficient, and environmentally safe approach for landfill leachate remediation. Its flexible configuration and minimal maintenance requirements support its potential for large scale and on site applications in waste management systems.</p>
