摘要

Most of the existing literature on school psychology shortages and ratios has focused on state level data and how individual states compare to the recommended ratio of one school psychologist for every 500 students as set forth by the National Association of School Psychologists [NASP] (NASP, 2020b). In this study, ArcGIS Pro was utilized to examine how school district level data may be examined to explore state level ratio data in depth. Through data gathered as part of this study, findings suggest that only 27.5% of Massachusetts school districts were currently meeting the NASP recommended ratio of one school psychologist for every 500 students. Of large concern was the number of districts, primarily those in rural or high poverty areas, that had high ratios or who did not have a school psychologist on staff. Implications as to how ArcGIS Pro may be utilized for ongoing advocacy efforts are discussed.
