Index zur Messung der Betrieblichen Gesundheitskultur für Forschung und Praxis
摘要
To promote employee health, organizations should create a culture in which health and well-being can be enjoyed and created. Especially older employees can benefit from a supportive health culture due to the increased health risks. So far, the factors of such a workplace health culture have not been sufficiently investigated. The aim of this article is to generate an index for measuring workplace health culture for older employees in Germany.
MethodsInterview data of 7173 socially insured employees of the lidA(leben in der Arbeit)-study from 2022/2023 were analyzed. Based on research findings and qualitative investigations, selected survey items were examined for their associations and dimensional structure using correlations, exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses. The determined index was investigated for systematic differences according to occupational groups and company sizes. The external validity of the index was analyzed using the criteria health, work ability and job satisfaction by means of logistic regressions.
ResultsThe analysis of the results suggests a two-dimensional model, which includes the subscales of health-related practices and underlying assumptions, each with three items. This structure exhibits good reliability. The logistic regression analyses show strong significant associations of the complete index with health, work ability and job satisfaction.
DiscussionCompared to existing international indices, the one generated here stands out for its compactness and simplicity, making it an economical tool for research and practice. Even moderate improvements of the workplace health culture are in cross-section associated with clear positive effects on relevant health and work-related outcomes. Longitudinal investigations with future study data are planned to investigate the predictive validity of the index.
