Background <p>Digital services can be a&#xa0;perspective in occupational healthcare to avoid potential underuse; however, there is no overview of digital applications already in use in occupational medicine. The aim of this article is to record digital applications in selected areas of occupational medical care and to provide an overview of the current state of research on their use.</p> Method <p>The methodological approach is based on an exploratory literature search, which provides a&#xa0;structured overview of the current state of research. As part of the present study, a&#xa0;total of 122 full-text studies were examined for their suitability for the period from 2014 to 2024. The studies were selected through a&#xa0;search of five databases and a&#xa0;manual search. Only studies in which the applications were used by specialists in occupational health or occupational psychology in the areas of prevention, aftercare and counselling, early detection, workplace inspections and risk assessment were included in the study.</p> Results <p>A total of 17&#xa0;studies were included in the assessment of the results. The studies are characterized by a&#xa0;high degree of heterogeneity. In addition to implementation studies that explore various possible uses of digital applications in occupational healthcare, other studies describe the frequency of use and the experiences of specialists. The overview identified occupational health databases for organizing measures, digital applications for conducting examinations and applications of artificial intelligence (AI) and metaverse technologies as relevant areas of application.</p> Discussion <p>This literature review shows that digital applications in occupational medical care are becoming increasingly more important and are being used in a&#xa0;variety of different ways. Overall, digital access to care is widely accepted; however, training and knowledge transfer among users are still needed. It can be assumed that digital applications in occupational medicine will become even more important in the future. Further research is needed into the requirements for digital applications from the perspectives of occupational medical professionals and companies. In particular, aspects such as accessibility and digital skills should be studied in depth to ensure targeted, efficient and quality-assured use of digital applications in the future.</p>
