Berufliche Zufriedenheit und gesundheitliche Situation von Akkord- und Fließbandarbeitern eines deutschen Logistikunternehmens im Versandhandel

In today’s digital society, online retail is experiencing an enormous increase in demand. To cope with this, piecework and assembly line work have become established in the mail order business, which represent not only a physical but also a high psychological workload for employees. This cross-sectional study examines the job satisfaction and health situation of piecework and assembly line workers at a German logistics company. A total of 24 employees under piecework conditions (age 47.5 ± 11.6 years) and 25 employees under assembly line working conditions (age 49.4 ± 9.1 years) voluntarily took part in the study. The scales for recording subjective stress and dissatisfaction in the professional area (SBUSB) were used to assess job satisfaction and the questionnaire for recording physical, psychological and social communicative impairment (KOEPS) was used to record both physical and psychological stress reactions. The assembly line workers reported a social-communicative impairment (p < 0.05) and a lack of recovery significantly more frequently (p < 0.05). The other categories of the two questionnaires did not reveal any differences. Company prevention measures are being discussed that benefit the mental health of employees in the mail order business.
