Coma mixedematoso e crisi tireotossica: dalla diagnosi alla gestione terapeutica

Myxoedematous coma and thyrotoxic crisis are medical emergencies that often go unrecognised, especially in the early phase. Both conditions require timely treatment and are characterised by multiple organ failure determined, respectively, by the severe and prolonged deficiency in circulating thyroid hormones or by their rapid and sustained increase. Therapeutic management requires a multidisciplinary approach aimed at correcting the thyroid dysfunction, on the one hand, and the haemodynamic and systemic involvement, on the other.
