Sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitors (SGLT-2i) have revolutionised the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus, demonstrating significant efficacy, particularly in the renal and cardiovascular domains. Initially approved solely as antidiabetic drugs, the therapeutic indications for this class of drugs have significantly expanded in recent years. This review summarises the primary evidence regarding the efficacy of SGLT-2 inhibitors in clinical settings beyond diabetes mellitus.
