Prevalenza, eziologia e risvolti prognostici delle alterazioni del sodio nella popolazione diabetica ospedalizzata
摘要
Dysnatraemias have a high incidence and prevalence in inpatients with diabetes mellitus (DM). Owing to the existence of numerous potential underlying causes of these electrolyte disorders, their diagnosis and therapeutic management is very challenging. These disorders are also associated with a worse prognosis, with increased mortality, frequency of institutionalisation, length and cost of hospitalisation, frequency of discharge to nursing facilities, and risk of fractures. For these reasons, proper diagnostic approach is essential for timely therapeutic management to restore plasma tonicity.
