摘要

Thanks to the improvements in cancer treatment protocols, the number of childhood cancer survivors within the general population is constantly increasing. Several studies showed that these patients can prematurely experience health conditions (e.g., cardiovascular diseases, cancer) that usually affect older people. Therefore, it has been hypothesised that anticancer therapies can accelerate the development of physiological mechanism of senescence. This review summarises the recent evidence about the role of chronic low grade inflammation in the onset of premature ageing in survivors of childhood cancer.
