<p>The key to improving the national people’s happiness of life is to ensure and improve people’s livelihood, among which, the rise of the central region plays an extremely important role in China. It is particularly important to analyze the characteristics of residents’ quality of life in different districts of the central region and formulate policies to improve the quality of life. The representative cities of Henan and Anhui provinces are taken as examples. Twelve indicators are selected to evaluate the quality of life for the residents of Henan and Anhui provinces. Multivariate statistical analysis is used to study and compare the quality of life of the residents of Henan and Anhui provinces. The research methods are also applicable to other provinces in the central region. Firstly, factor analysis is used to analyze the quality of life in 2020, and three common factors are extracted, which are the social facilities factor, economic factor, and social environment factor. Secondly, the comprehensive scores of the cities are calculated and sorted, and the cities in Anhui and Henan provinces can be divided into four categories by cluster analysis. Among them, the cities with the highest quality of life account for 6.2% and 5.6% respectively, the higher cities account for 25% and 27.8% respectively, the average cities account for 56.3% and 44.4% respectively, and the lower cities account for 12.5% and 22.2% respectively. It’s basically a normal distribution. It is found that the overall quality of life of the two provinces is close, but the development of the quality of life for urban residents is unbalanced. In this case, different suggestions are put forward for the two provinces, among which Henan province needs to improve the social environment and Anhui province needs to improve the infrastructure construction, etc. Finally, factor analysis is used to analyze the change trend of the quality of life in the two provinces in the past 10 years. And it is found that the quality of life of residents in the two provinces has been steadily improved, which also indicates that with the continuous development of the central region, the living standard of residents is also improving year by year. This study will provide more targeted improvement suggestions for the development of different regions in central China.</p>
