<p>Biological research is influenced by the characteristics of the investigated biological research objects. Thus, to describe the specificities of biology in contrast to chemistry and physics, the characteristics of biological research objects should be considered. By the family resemblance approach to nature of science similarities and differences between scientific disciplines can be described. This study aims to identify biology-specific nature of science features, which are irrelevant to chemistry and physics. In an interview study, 29&#xa0;scientists and science theorists were asked to estimate the relevance of certain nature of science aspects for their research. Based on the data, 19&#xa0;biology-specific nature of science concepts are described, each of which links a&#xa0;specific feature of biological research with a&#xa0;characteristic of biological research objects. Through the authentic references of the experts, biology-specific nature of science concepts can be found that suggest a&#xa0;biology-specific contextualization of the family resemblance approach.</p>
