Study on effectiveness of techno-entrepreneurship learning materials on the development of micro-entrepreneurs

This experimental study evaluates the effectiveness of digitally integrated technology-entrepreneurship (technopreneurship) learning materials in enhancing the skill development of first-generation entrepreneurs in Satara District. This study aimed to identify gaps in understanding the applied knowledge from traditional classroom learning versus well-designed, digitally integrated, technology-based entrepreneurial learning materials within the broader context of innovation and entrepreneurship education leveraging digital technology.
The study employed a completely randomized formal experimental design with 70 first-generation entrepreneurs from a Technology Entrepreneurship Development Program (TEDP) divided into a control group and an experimental group of 35 participants each. The control group received traditional classroom training using print-based techno-entrepreneurship learning materials and methods. In contrast, the experimental group was exposed to a comprehensive learning material package that integrated print materials with multimedia digital content, a digital lab manual, web referencing, and a support guide for trainers, including a technopreneurship portal and a digital content compact disc (CD). Data were collected using questionnaires and online tools and then processed and analyzed using SPSS software via a two-sample t-test.
The hypothesis that integrated technology-entrepreneurship learning materials are ineffective in creating sustainable enterprises with technopreneurial skills was rejected. The findings revealed a significant difference between the experimental and control groups (p < 0.001), indicating that the experimental group experienced more pronounced skill development than the control group. The ‘independent samples t-test’ results yielded a mean standard deviation of 10.42329 and a standard error score of 1.67832 for the experimental group. The control group’s standard deviation, mean, and standard error scores were 21.47224 and 3.27057, respectively. The analysis revealed significant differences in the factors affecting the respondents between the control and experimental groups. Specifically, the experimental group showed significant differences in their competencies in costing services and online payment operations. Crucially, microenterprises of experimental group participants saw an average sales increase of 31.2% over four months, demonstrating improved business sustainability attributed to digital integration, including online presence, search engine optimization, and digital marketing tools. The study concludes that using digitally integrated technology learning materials is effective in developing skills, increasing sales, and ensuring the sustainability of microenterprises for first-generation entrepreneurs in the Satara District.
