摘要

Purpose of Review

Obesity has emerged as a critical health concern, associated with numerous chronic diseases. Traditional interventions, including chemical treatments and surgeries, often lead to adverse effects. Tannins are categorized into ellagitannins, gallotannins, condensed tannins, and complex tannins, positioning them as key components in holistic obesity management.

Recent Findings

This review explores the potential of tannins—polyphenolic compounds found in various plants—as natural anti-obesity agents. Tannins may inhibit fat absorption, regulate metabolic processes, and alleviate oxidative stress. Additionally, they show promise in broader applications, including disease prevention and skin treatment.

Summary

We discuss the mechanisms through which tannins impact obesity, highlighting their effects on satiety hormones, food consumption, and insulin sensitivity.
