Harnessing Nutritional Powerhouse: Millets and Probiotics in Anticancer Therapy

This review highlights the importance and effects of millet and probiotics for the prevention of cancer.
Recent FindingsMillets are renowned as yesterday’s coarse grains and today’s nutri-cereals, which have a rich source of vitamins, minerals, dietary fibers, and bioactive compounds, containing anti-inflammatory, anti-cancer, and antioxidant properties. India is ranking first in millet production which have been cultivated globally. Probiotics are microorganisms that have health benefits when consumed or applied to the body by improving or restoring the gut microbiota. Probiotics are found in yogurt, fermented foods, and dietary supplements. Bioactive compounds of millet and probiotics have the potential to treat several health problems, including colon cancer, breast cancer, and cervical cancer. Millet is also used in the food industry to produce millet food products because of its high nutritional value. Millets and probiotics can be used as effective anticancer therapies. Therefore, in this study, we have highlighted the significance and effects of millet and probiotics on health and disease prevention, particularly for cancer management.
