Driving Training Programs for Autistic Individuals: A Scoping Review
摘要
Individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) face challenges in learning to drive due to impairments in social communication, executive functioning, emotional regulation, and motor skills, which increase accident risk. This scoping review aimed to identify interventions designed to improve driving skills in autistic individuals, evaluate the specific skills targeted, and assess the effectiveness of these programs. Seven studies involving 229 autistic individuals were included. Interventions ranged from educational programs to simulation-based and mixed training. Some studies showed improvements in driving skills, such as reduced errors and better motor coordination, but overall effectiveness was inconsistent. More rigorous, empirically validated programs are needed to address the unique challenges of ASD and enhance driving safety.
