Parental Stress and Coping Strategies in Parents of Children with Autism Spectrum Disorders: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis
摘要
This meta-analysis examined the relationship between coping strategies and parenting stress in parents of children with autism spectrum disorder, based on 20 studies with 2,725 participants. Results showed a small but significant negative correlation between engagement coping and stress, while distraction and disengagement coping were significantly positively correlated with higher stress. Cognitive reframing was not significantly related to stress. Additionally, meta-regression analysis revealed that a higher education level significantly moderated the relationship between coping strategies and stress—negatively for engagement coping and positively for disengagement coping. These findings emphasize the role of coping strategies in managing stress and suggest that targeted education and intervention programs may help reduce stress in parents of children with autism.
