Pornography, Problematic Pornography Use, and Infidelity
摘要
This review focuses on links between pornography use, problematic pornography use (PPU), and infidelity. Specifically, the review had two main aims: (1) to examine perceptions of pornography use as infidelity per se, and (2) to explore potential associations between pornography use/PPU and (a) attitudes toward infidelity, (b) tendency to engage in infidelity, and (c) actual commission of infidelity.
Recent FindingsResearch suggest that perceptions of pornography use as infidelity per se vary significantly across individuals, with some considering it an alternative to infidelity and others viewing it as a form of betrayal. Moreover, studies indicate that attitudes toward pornography, tendencies toward infidelity, and in-person infidelity behaviors are related to sociodemographic factors.
