Ectopic overexpression of a plant-specific LOV blue light receptor gene from B. juncea in A. thaliana promotes flowering and branching

FKF1 (Flavin binding, kelch repeat, F-box 1) was reported functions in circadian clock and flowering, but the function of BjuFKF1 has not been characterized. To identify its functions, BjuFKF1 was ectopic overexpressed in Arabidopsis. At last, three independent BjuFKF1 overexpression (OE) lines were obtained, which displayed early flowering and more branches. Further study found that exogenous GA up-regulated FKF1 mRNA expression at seedling, reproductive stages and under both long day and blue light. qRT-PCR assays indicated that all GA related genes were up-regulated in BjuFKF1 OE line, exogenous GA reduced most GA related genes under short day but up-regulated under medium day. When under different lights, only GA catabolism and GA response genes were up-regulated. Exogenous GA increased most GA related genes under blue light and green light, but reduced under red light. All the results indicated that BjuFKF1 involves in GA signal pathway, functions in flowering time and branches regulation.
