<p>The use of traditional medicine is regarded therapeutically desirable but the integration with sport raises issues of performance improvement as well as drug adulteration. WADA governs the substances that can be used to increase performance, or mask their use, but there are difficulties in the compliance with doping policy. This paper seeks to examine where beneficial interests of traditional medicine may lie from prejudicing the interest of fair competition. It concentrates on using it responsibly and emphasizes on the need for stakeholders as well as anti-doping bodies, governing bodies, as well as well as healthcare practitioners to work towards remediating safety and sports integrity. As the use of traditional medicine still calls for special anti-doping rules and regulations, blistering in its controversies and its dangers to athletes, coaches, and support staff, research and education into it is paramount.</p>
