Using the LIMO Platform to Learn Mobile Robotics
摘要
This article discusses some mobile robot applications exploring the capabilities of the LIMO platform of AgileX Robotics. Such a platform is compact and open-source, making it valuable for the limited workspaces common in most labs. Moreover, it stands out for being affordable enough for low-budget labs and extremely flexible. The study includes various examples of using such a platform, such as accomplishing trajectory-tracking tasks, controlling the navigation of multi-robot systems, and using laser and camera sensors for navigation and mapping. The objective is to demonstrate LIMO’s flexibility as a platform for learning and practicing a range of basic/advanced robotics activities. The possibility of integrating a more powerful Jetson Xavier board into the LIMO platform to enable more robust, advanced experiments is also explored. Therefore, the main contribution of the study is to demonstrate the potential of the LIMO platform as an educational and research tool for active learning in robotics, offering a practical, accessible solution for students and researchers.
