摘要

This study investigates how different dimensions of teacher paternalistic leadership (PL) influence student innovative behavior (IB) in Chinese vocational colleges. Drawing on social cognitive theory and social exchange theory, the research examines the mediating role of creative self-efficacy (CSE) and the moderating effect of leader-member exchange (LMX). Analyzing 252 student questionnaires, results reveal that authoritarian leadership (AL) negatively affects IB, while benevolent leadership (BL) and moral leadership (ML) positively influence it. CSE mediates the relationship between each dimension of PL and IB, and LMX moderates these relationships by mitigating the negative effects of AL and amplifying the positive effects of BL and ML. These findings contribute to the literature by integrating cognitive and relational mechanisms in understanding how teacher leadership shapes student innovation. Practical implications for leadership development and innovation cultivation in vocational education are provided, alongside study limitations and future research directions.
