Europa Clipper Mission Design: Pump Down Trajectory Design
摘要
The Europa Clipper spacecraft launched on October 14, 2024, and will arrive at Jupiter in April of 2030 after an interplanetary gravity assist sequence involving Earth and Mars. This paper outlines the design philosophy, process, and constraints associated with the robust pump down trajectory design envelope. The design seeks the usual efficiencies involving propellant and time-of-flight while providing mission robustness, overall cost savings, and early science data collection opportunities. Mathematically, the design is cast as a multi-objective, multi-agent global optimization problem with constraints.
