<p>Alopecia areata (AA) is an autoimmune disorder characterized by episodes of non-scarring hair loss. AA has an unpredictable disease course and can have a substantial negative impact on health-related quality of life (HRQOL) and mental well-being. This Adis Summary of Research reports the effects of baricitinib on measures of HRQOL and symptoms of anxiety and depression in patients with severe AA who achieved sustained scalp regrowth while receiving continuous treatment with baricitinib.</p>
