Purpose of Review <p>Tendinopathy is a common musculoskeletal condition characterized by chronic tendon pain, dysfunction, and pathological changes to tendon architecture. Orthobiologic therapies, particularly platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs), have emerged as promising biologically-driven treatments. This review provides an overview of tendon biology in tendinopathy and critically examines the rationale, mechanisms, and clinical evidence supporting the use of PRP and MSCs as emerging treatment strategies for refractory cases of tendinopathy.</p> Key Findings <p>PRP and MSCs have shown encouraging results, especially in treating lateral epicondylopathy, patellar tendinopathy, and Achilles tendinopathy. However, the data for these treatments is heterogeneous and suffers from a lack of robust level I evidence for many tendon sites.</p> Summary <p>While there is promising low level evidence for the use of PRP and MSCs for tendinopathies given their ability to stimulate tissue repair and healing, there remains a need for further randomized controlled trials looking at their efficacy in these conditions.</p>

Purpose of Review

Key Findings
