摘要

Purpose of Review

Pickleball has emerged as one of the fastest-growing sports in the United States, with participation increasing by over 200% since 2020. While early injury reports focused on older adults, shifting demographics have introduced a more age-diverse population. This review aims to examine current literature on pickleball-related musculoskeletal injuries, assess variations by age and gender, and offer clinical recommendations for diagnosis, treatment, and prevention.

Recent Findings

A targeted review of English-language studies from 2020 onward identified 42 relevant articles, including nine focused on injury epidemiology. Younger athletes more commonly sustained soft tissue injuries, while older adults presented more frequently with fractures or joint trauma. Acute injuries often led to emergency care, whereas subacute and overuse injuries were managed in outpatient settings.

Summary

Injury patterns in pickleball are evolving. Clinicians must adapt strategies for evaluation and care. This review includes practical treatment algorithms, a sample rehabilitation plan, and prehabilitation tools to support safe play.
