Upper Limb Amputation Management for Consideration of Replantation. A Brief Review and Case Report

The primary objective was to provide an accurate description of the treatment for the patient and the amputated limb that was referred for replantation.The report also examines the epidemiology, the indications and contraindications, the significance of the interval between amputation and replantation, and the multidisciplinary team involved in the replantation process.

The successful replantation necessitates the provision of care for both the patient and the amputated part, as well as the technical specifications of the referring hospital and the multidisciplinary team. In addition to fundamental concepts, the utilization of communication technology, through the utilization of video and photographs, has proven advantageous in avoiding unnecessary efforts.

Replantation is a surgical procedure that involves returning an amputated limb or part of an amputated limb to the body. In this review, we will briefly report the epidemiology of amputations and the challenges involved in these procedures, such as care for the patient and the amputated limb, the indications and contraindications for performing replantation, the time elapsed between amputation and replantation, the multi-professional team, and a description of a clinical case.
