Review of Traumatic Upper Extremity Peripheral Nerve Injuries in the Pediatric Population
摘要
Pediatric peripheral nerve injuries (PNI) from traumatic insults remain challenging for clinicians to diagnose. Recently, there has been a growing emphasis on recognizing and closely monitoring these injuries, as early discovery and treatment are crucial to the affected child’s quality of life and long-term outcomes.
Recent FindingsHowever, the literature on pediatric PNI and management is limited, likely due to the unique challenges faced in diagnosing and treating such injuries. While much of the current surgical and management practices are adapted from adult care, evidence suggests that timely intervention in the pediatric population could lead to significantly better outcomes.
SummaryIn this review, we explore the existing etiologies of pediatric PNI, examine current diagnostic and management approaches, and highlight emerging research and techniques in pediatric nerve repair.
