Advances in Mandibular Distraction Osteogenesis
摘要
Purpose of Review
Identify the recent advances in mandibular distraction osteogenesis (MDO) over the last five years.
Recent FindingsPre-operative objective parameters and the utilization of virtual surgical planning (VSP) has increased leading to improved outcomes.
SummaryMDO is often utilized for Robin Sequence (RS) at high volume craniofacial centers. The pre-operative parameters, operative technique, hardware specifics, and post-operative phases are often dictated by surgeon preference and experience. Recently, there has been a shift to identify preoperative objective measures to identify ideal candidates and utilize VSP for patient specific operative planning. These advances will make MDO more accessible and increase its utilization in the future.
