Review of the State-of-the-Art on Response on Tapered Piles to Different Loading Conditions

摘要

Tapered piles have become a common choice for infrastructural projects, alongside concrete and steel piles. Timber is also used in some cases. Compared to piles with uniform cross-sections, tapered piles have a higher bearing capacity and are more resistant to static and dynamic loads. Tapered piles have significant advantages over uniform cross-section piles, providing enhanced resistance under static axial, lateral, and uplift loading. The tapering angle is the most critical parameter for both static and dynamic pile response. Increasing the taper angle results in higher stiffness, lower damping, and a constant resonant frequency but decreased resonant amplitude. This paper primarily discusses the effect of loading conditions and construction disturbances on tapered piles through a review of relevant recent literature.
