摘要

In this work, the impact of scratching on the microstructure and pitting corrosion behavior of a 304L austenitic stainless steel in a 2500 mg/L borated solution was investigated. Scratching induced the formation of a plastic deformed surface layer. Martensite phase was observed in the deformed surface layer, implying the occurrence of martensite phase transformation. The scratched 304L stainless steel possesses a lower pitting corrosion potential and a higher corrosion current compared to its unscratched counterpart. Scratching grooves are the preferential sites for the initiation of pitting corrosion. The oxide films formed on the scratch groove were loose and porous, exhibiting low protective ability.
