Current status of the ISOL beamline and recent advances in radioactive isotope extraction experiments

The rare isotope accelerator complex for ON-line experiment (RAON) is being developed as the first flagship radioactive isotope (RI) beam facility in Korea. The high-power isotope separator on-line (ISOL) facility is a core facility of the RAON, aiming to expand the nuclear chart by using a method of projectile fragmentation or fusion reactions with RI beams. Additionally, providing high-power and intense RI beams is crucial for investigating nuclear forces, nuclear astrophysics, solid-state physics, as well as related fields. The design, construction, and installation of the ISOL system has been completed, and the beam transport line has been successfully commissioned using stable isotope beams. This ensures that all requirements for the beamline and associated devices have been fulfilled. Moreover, the first experiment of RI beam extraction has also been successful.
