摘要

The RAON is an accelerator facility that produces and utilizes beams of various nuclides from protons to uranium, primarily for rare isotope (RI) physics research. It consists of two combined systems: a 400-kW IF system (beam energy up to 200 MeV/u for uranium) and a 50-kW ISOL system (70-MeV proton beam and UCx target). The construction of this facility, which is unprecedented in the country in terms of its use of high-power- RI production systems and actinium beams/targets, requires an accurate estimate of the radiation yield and a special facility design to ensure radiation safety and minimize environmental influences. We discuss the design and construction of two important parts in the radiation safety system for the facility, the personal safety interlock system (PSIS) and the radiation monitoring system (RMS) based on an analysis of radiation areas and an evaluation of the activation of various materials in the facility.
