Beam diagnostic system for the SCL3 of the RAON

摘要

The RAON is a multi-purpose accelerator facility that can accelerate various heavy ion and exotic rare isotope beams. Beam diagnostic devices are required to monitor the properties and the characteristics of the beams. We designed diagnostic devices suitable for each acceleration and transmission section starting from the injector section after the ECR-IS to the experimental target through the superconducting linear accelerator. Beam diagnostic devices are designed to measure the beam current, transverse and longitudinal profiles, position, phase, and transverse emittance. Diagnostic devices that interact directly or indirectly with the beam are installed in the tunnel, and electronic devices are placed in the gallery to process signals. Most signal processing devices are connected via EPICS-based communication, allowing us to monitor the measurement results and control devices by using diagnostic devices installed in the tunnel. This paper presents the design, installation, and measurement results for the beam diagnostic devices during the initial beam commissioning of the 40Ar9+ beam.
