Transforming Plastic Waste into Sustainable Solutions: Exploring Innovative Applications and Future Prospects for a Greener Planet
摘要
Every year, hundreds of millions of metric tons of plastic waste are manufactured worldwide. Land-filling and energy generation are not preferred over the conversion of garbage into secondary raw materials. The accumulation of plastic garbage is a huge international concern, and typical disposal strategies such as open burning, land-filling and incineration result in both financial loss and greenhouse gas emissions. Novel technologies such as microwave-assisted conversion, photo reforming, supercritical water conversion as well as plasma-assisted conversion are being researched for high-value products. The usage of plastic waste is investigated in this research in a range of industries, including carbonaceous nanobot-materials, wastewater treatment, fuel generation, building, and electrode materials. Although recycling plastic garbage and developing a circular economy are critically needed, little is known about the efficiency and conversion processes of these initiatives. The study underlines the significance of contemporary waste management systems as well as the consequences for the ecosystem of an accumulation of plastic waste.
