Effect of La3+ Doping on the Electrical Properties of LiCoO2 Cathodes for Lithium-Ion Batteries

摘要

This study investigates the impact of La3+ doping at B-sites in LiCoO2 (LCO) for lithium-ion batteries (LIBs). Through XRD analysis, pristine and La-doped LCO exhibit purity, with intensified peaks and increased crystallite size in the doped material, indicating enhanced crystallinity without structural alteration. SEM imaging reveals well-distributed grains, notably larger in La-doped LCO due to the catalytic influence of La3+. TG–DTA analysis demonstrates similar thermal behaviors but reduced reactivity in the doped LCO, implying potential stability in LIBs. Impedance analysis showcases lowered charge transfer resistance and heightened electrical conductivity in the doped LCO, suggesting its suitability for high-performance LIB cathodes. Overall, La3+doping positively influences the structural and electrical properties of LCO, offering promising advancements for advanced LIB applications.
