摘要

The present work explores the wear resistance of polymer composites incorporating glass, coconut coir, and banana fibers. Utilizing a low-cost hand layup technique, composites were fabricated and subjected to dry sliding wear tests. Results indicate improved wear resistance and extended wear life, with Composite C4 (Coir/Banana/Glass-USP) outperforming others. Taguchi’s design and analysis reveal that fiber type significantly influences wear (96.11%), followed by disc speed (1.85%) and pin load (1.79%). Scanning electron microscopy highlights delamination and failure zones. Despite higher wear rates for banana fiber composites, hybrids with glass, banana, and coir exhibit superior wear resistance. This study provides valuable insights for optimizing polymer composites for enhanced durability in practical applications.
