Adaptation of Silica for HDPE/Cotton Stalk Powder Hybrid Polymer Nanocomposite via Injection Mould
摘要
High-density polyethylene (HDPE) is a type of polymer utilized in technical requirements due to its low specific weight, flexibility, good strength, and cost-effectiveness. The objective of the present innovation is to synthesize the hybrid HDPE nanocomposite with the compositions of 3 wt% nano silica particle (50 nm) sand 5–10 wt% of the cotton stalk (50 µm) with 2.5 wt% of span via advanced injection moulding process. The advanced injection moulding machine prepared HDPE, HDPE/3 wt% nano silica particle, and HDPE/3 wt% nano silica particle/ 5–10 wt% cotton stalk composites tensile strength, elongation percentage, and Charpy impact strength performance is evaluated. With the disclosure of hybrid reinforcements like nano 3 wt% of silica and higher (10 wt%) cotton stalk contribution, high tensile strength performance is recorded with improved elongation percentages of 57 MPa and 120%. Similarly, loading 3 wt% nano silica particle with HDPE matrix featured by 10 wt% of cotton stalk enriches the impact strength and spotted 14 J/cm2.
