Featuring with Nano Alumina Made Hybrid Epoxy/Carbon Fiber Nanocomposite: Performance Evaluation
摘要
Growing technologies, the hybrid polymer composites meet the industrial requirements and havea lower weight, better strength, high flexural behaviour, and cost-effective rather than conventional monolithic polymer matrix. The potential of nano alumina (Al2O3) particles considered as the quantity of 5 weight % (wt%) blended with epoxy matrix enriched by the additions of carbon fiber as 0, 10, 15, and 20 wt% through hot compression mould technology with an applied pressure of 100psi for 5min, which helps to increase the adhesive bonding strength. Ceramic/fiber mixture on impact strength, microhardness, and flexural strength of epoxy, epoxy/5 wt% of Al2O3, and epoxy/5 wt% of Al2O3/ 10–20 wt% of carbon fiber hybrid nanocomposite are evaluated. Hybrid epoxy composite equipped with 5 wt% Al2O3/ 20 wt% of carbon fiber has recorded optimum impact strength, microhardness, and flexural strength performance of 7.8 J/cm2, 26 HV, and 42 MPa. It is higher than the epoxy composite prepared without reinforcements.
