Exposure of Basalt/Sisal Fiber on Function Properties of Polyester Composite Made by Using Hot Compression Route

Innovative polyester-based composites are beneficial over the traditional materials used for technical domains and offer unique properties with low specific weight, improved specific strength, better impact toughness and durability. This polyester work is a matrix material for developing the hybrid poly composite with chopped basalt and sisal fiber through compression mould. The synthesized composite owns 10 weight percentages (wt%) of synthetic basalt fiber and 5–15 wt% of sisal fiber with 5 wt% of span. Hybrid fiber combinations on tensile/compression/impact strength behaviour of polyester hybrid composite are tested by ASTM D3039/E209/D256. Its evaluated results showed better mechanical behaviour and increased the chemically processed sisal fiber. The maximum tensile/compression/impact strength of 38.3 ± 0.6 MPa, 54.5 ± 0.3 MPa, and 4.6 ± 0.03 J/mm2 is recorded by polyester/10 wt% of basalt fiber and 15 wt% of sisal fiber. It is greater than the other composite sample and suggested for light weight applications.
