摘要

Metal matrix composites (MMCs) synthesised through powder metallurgy (P/M) route have been extensively selected and utilized for the aerospace, automotive, petrochemical ordnance, and petroleum industries. P/M is an excellent process for creating parts with strong, hard, wear-resistant, and other desirable mechanical and tribological qualities. In comparison with other conventional processing techniques, P/M provides an ordered microstructure with better mechanical, tribological, and physical characteristics. Such desirable characteristics validate the adoption of the powder metallurgy as a favourable and economical process compared to other methods in a various industry, including automotive, aerospace, and even electronic components. It is well known and documented that engineered MMCs provide a superior strength-to-weight (σ/ρ) ratio. The present detailed review summarised an overview the processing of metal matrix composites using powder metallurgical route and opportunities for further research.
